SIMPLICITY OF THE BIBLE.

The Bible was written for the people—the common people—the mass; and if God had not meant the word of faith to be understood in a common sense way, he would have prepared the Bible with a dictionary, and have explained the nature of believing, but as there is no such explanation given, we infer that we are to understand it just as it is understood in ordinary language among men.
Shall we believe, almighty Lord, Whose presence fills both earth and Heaven, The meaning of the written word Is by thy inspiration given? Thou only dost thyself explain The secret mind of God to man. Charles Wesley.
