1 Chronicles 14:1

Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.

The verse belongs to the prosperous years of David's reign, standing in the first part of Chronicles which deals with the kingdom of Judah and runs parallel to the last part of Samuel. More specifically it falls within chapters 13-16, which parallel the record in Samuel apart from genealogies. Those chapters set forth David's work and what he accomplished, the division of his armies, his virtues and his mistakes, together with God's mercy and guidance.

The men Hiram sent to David are rendered as angels in the Greek Old Testament. The underlying word means messenger. It can denote either a human being or a heavenly being.
