1 Samuel 26:1

And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?

1 Samuel 26:1 belongs to the time after Abiathar escaped Saul's slaughter of the Lord's priests and fled to David. Abiathar had survived when Saul destroyed the priests, and he sought refuge with David in the wilderness. David received him and kept him with himself in safeguard. He did so because Saul was seeking both David's life and Abiathar's life, so the two fugitives remained together under the same threat.
