1 Thessalonians 1:1

Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The opening greeting to the Thessalonian church sets that church before the reader as a practical lesson for every individual belonging to it. Its standing in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ, with grace and peace extended to it, is held up as the pattern each member is to study and embody. The greeting comes jointly from Paul and Silvanus and Timotheus to the whole church, rather than from Paul alone. In that united salutation the three are revealed as laborers together with God in ministry to the church.
