2 Chronicles 1:1
And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly. And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
Solomon the son of David was established and strengthened in his kingdom because the Lord his God was with him, and God magnified and exalted him exceedingly in honor, power, and standing. This favor is explained in connection with his asking for wisdom and knowledge to govern God's people instead of asking for riches, honor, revenge on his enemies, or long life, and God granted his request and gave him extraordinary riches, wealth, and honor besides.
God gave Solomon wisdom, understanding, and a discerning and understanding heart, which enlarged his rule and public standing. That wisdom enabled him to judge wisely and govern the kingdom well, so the people recognized God's wisdom in his judgments, trusted him, and remained loyal to him.
His reign's wide dominion and peace fulfilled the promise that Israel would possess the land if the people obeyed God's commandments. In devotion, uprightness, and obedience for many years he carried out God's directions for building the temple, and the magnificence of the temple spread his fame among the nations.
