2 Chronicles 20:1

It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

Near the close of Jehoshaphat's reign the children of Moab and the children of Ammon, with other allies beside the Ammonites, came against him to battle in Judah. They came from beyond the sea as a great multitude and a great coalition for war. The invasion threatened the kingdom, leaving Judah with no might against so great a company and not knowing what to do, and giving the people reason to fear.

Jehoshaphat feared, yet he set himself to seek the Lord and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. Judah gathered together from all the cities to ask help of the Lord, looking to God in their helplessness with their eyes upon Him. His prayer confessed the Lord God of the fathers as God in heaven ruling over all the kingdoms of the heathen, with power and might in His hand that none is able to withstand. It acknowledged Him as the One who gave Israel the land for an everlasting possession and appealed to Him to judge these enemies come to cast His people out of their possession.

God is the strength of His people today, their strong tower of defense in every emergency. They are not to put their trust in princes nor to set fallible men in the place of God, for human beings are fallible. They are not to look at supposed impossibilities but to Him who has all power, feeling that the battle is His. His limitless resources will cause apparent impossibilities to bring only greater victory.
