2 Chronicles 26:1
Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah. Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
All the people of Judah took Uzziah and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah, succeeding him on the throne of Judah.
He was sixteen years old when he was made king.
He is also called Azariah.
His father Amaziah had been killed by his people, so his reign began in a time of trouble.
His accession belongs to Judah's royal history, which provides the setting for the Bible's spiritual lessons and is connected with God's historical revelation culminating in Christ.
He reigned fifty-two years, began by doing what was right in the sight of the Lord, and accomplished great things for Judah and Jerusalem.
He is reckoned among the good and great kings.
Later, when pride led him to presume on priestly duty, he entered the temple to burn incense though he was not a Levite.
That later presumption was a mistake, and for it God struck him with leprosy.
