2 Chronicles 3:1
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the Lord appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Solomon began to build the house of the Lord at Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, in the place David had prepared at the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. That place was where the Lord had appeared to David his father. The beginning came in the fourth year of Solomon's reign, 480 years after Israel came out of Egypt, on the second day of the second month.
The ground had been hallowed because David built an altar there, offered sacrifices, received God's answer by fire, and the plague was then stopped. The same ground was also remembered as the place where Abraham built an altar to offer his son. The construction required skilled workers to carry out its detailed plans, yet Solomon should have trusted God to provide consecrated helpers with the needed skill, instead of seeking a master workman from Tyre whose overseer set over the workers demanded high wages.
