The opening chapter that begins with this greeting is a lesson for all believers concerning the high and holy position to be occupied by God's ministers who open His Word to others. Before entering the pulpit such a minister is to examine himself as to whether he has practiced self-denial and whether his food has been simple enough for the stomach to digest without beclouding the brain. He is to keep his body in the best condition of health in order to commend the truth, to judge righteously, and to speak as the voice of God.
