Elders Anoint David King at Hebronby emmanuel_higgins

2 Samuel 5:1

Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

After Ishbosheth's death the tribes of Israel came together to David at Hebron. Their coming marked the end of divided rule and the gathering of all the tribes around the king at that place. In addressing him they acknowledged their kinship with him as bone and flesh. By that appeal they expressed their united desire for David to rule the whole nation, not Judah alone.
