Esther 2:1
After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her. After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.
Once the fury of King Ahasuerus cooled, he turned his thoughts back to Vashti. He recalled her herself, he recalled what she had done, and he recalled what had been decreed against her. That remembering came after these things, when his wrath was appeased, marking a pause between judgment and what would follow. Out of that remembrance grew the next step, as his servants proposed that fair young virgins be sought out and gathered to Shushan. They were to be brought for purification, so that the maiden who pleased the king would be made queen instead of Vashti. The plan pleased the king, and he carried it out.
