Ezekiel 25:1

The verse opens a new message from the Lord to Ezekiel. It begins the section of prophecies against foreign nations other than Judah found in chapters 25-32, directed against the nations surrounding Judah. The nations addressed in this section include Ammon, Moab, Tyre, and Egypt.

These nations had rejoiced over Judah's humiliation and mocked Jerusalem when it was made desolate and God's sanctuary was laid desolate. In response, the prophecies that follow declare specific divine judgments against them, and God punished them. The fulfillment of these prophecies concerning the other nations is evident today.
