The Bronze Man Measures the Temple Gateby emmanuel_higgins

Ezekiel 40:1

In the five and twentieth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that the city was smitten, in the selfsame day the hand of the LORD was upon me, and brought me thither.

Ezekiel 40:1 opens the vision of the measured temple, where a man with the appearance of brass stands in the gate of the house with a measuring reed in his hand. He measures the whole building, the little chambers and the doorways and the arches and the pillars and the great gate facing toward the east. Every least detail is recorded according to measurement by the reed, so that nothing is left unmeasured.

That measuring is the law of God brought to bear upon the least of acts and dealings. It is a spiritual measuring, and it is God's own measure of the man. When the measuring is finished the glory of God enters, and the charge is given to show the house to the house of Israel. They are to be ashamed of their iniquities as they measure the pattern, for this is the law of the house, that upon the top of the mountain the whole boundary round about shall be most holy.

What is needed now is men and women whose characters and works measure life and all things by God's exact measurement. By upright living and by honest, faithful dealings they build up the complete righteous stature and structure.
