Galatians 2:1

Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.

This verse begins Paul's account of going up again to Jerusalem to settle whether Gentile believers had to be circumcised and keep the ceremonial law. On that visit he first explained the matter privately to Peter, James, and John, who accepted that Gentiles were free from those requirements. Their private agreement was then affirmed by the council. The Jerusalem leaders recognized that God had called Paul to preach to the Gentiles just as Peter had been especially called to preach to the Jews. They accepted Paul as an equal fellow worker.
