Hosea 9:1
Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor. Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.
Israel is forbidden to rejoice for joy as other peoples and nations do. The reason is departure into whoring from God in unfaithfulness to Him. That unfaithfulness is shown in loving and seeking a reward connected with idolatrous and pagan worship. The loved reward was sought upon every cornfloor, at the threshing floors where that pagan worship occurred.
