Jeremiah 52:1

Zedekiah was Judah's last king, twenty-one years old when he began to reign, reigning eleven years in Jerusalem, and his mother was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. He was originally Mattaniah, the half-brother of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar set upon Jerusalem's throne and renamed Zedekiah after carrying Jehoiachin captive to Babylon. His maternal grandfather Jeremiah of Libnah was not Jeremiah the prophet, for the prophet was the son of Hilkiah from Anathoth north of Jerusalem, while Libnah lay southwest of Jerusalem.
His reign completed Judah's captivity in Babylon, during which Jerusalem was destroyed and Zedekiah himself was blinded and kept prisoner in Babylon until his death. That destruction came only a few years after the promise that Jerusalem would stand forever if the people carried no burdens on the Sabbath day and would be destroyed if they refused to listen, showing divine condescension in making keeping the holy day the condition of the city's continuance.
The chapter recounts judgment upon a wicked, God-defying city and stands as a lesson warning places that forget and defy God. Babylon's fate set forth there warns cities and nations against forgetting and defying God, a warning applying to modern places such as New York and Chicago.
