Job 1:1
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
Job was a man of moral excellence, described as perfect and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil. He was a man whom God tested and tried, his experience in Job 1:1-22 paralleling the testing of Elder Butler and of Moses. Together with Noah and Daniel he is held up as a pattern worthy of imitation.
His example teaches faith, patience, firmness, and upright conduct. His record shows that people like us can overcome evil and recover from errors.
