Job 24:1

Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days?

Job 24:1 stands inside the extended debate between Job and his three friends over his afflictions and the larger question of suffering. That controversy frames the verse as Job pressing the problem of divine dealings with human pain rather than merely uttering an isolated complaint.

The question itself asks why those who know God do not see or perceive His days, the times He has appointed to act, even though such times are not hidden from the Almighty. The surrounding chapter supplies Job's answer that the wicked prosper in this present life yet will face punishment in the future. His friends failed to grasp God's dealings because they judged only by their own observations, whereas God saw the end from the beginning and was working out a purpose that would ultimately bring Him glory and bring comfort to suffering people.
