Elihu and Job Face the Whirlwindby emmanuel_higgins

Job 37:1

At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place.

The trembling of the heart belongs to Elihu's argument and reproof addressed to Job. There affliction is presented as discipline rather than punishment for sin. Some light breaks out of a bitter and seemingly unprofitable discussion, and the littleness of human wisdom is exposed. Yet despairing Job is not satisfied by this, for he still must hear God himself before he bows in willing submission to a divine will he can now trust though he cannot understand.

The verse stands within the account of God's power and wisdom connected with Job's new experience of seeing God. It expresses a heart trembling and deeply moved in response to God's greatness.
