Obadiah 1:1
The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle. The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.
The vision opens with a divine declaration directed against Edom. A report heard from the Lord goes forth, and a messenger is sent among the nations to spread it. That report summons the peoples to arise and rise together against her in battle. In application to the closing strife, Edom stands for unbelievers, set in contrast to Jacob, who stands for believers.
