Psalms 109:1

Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise;

The cry to the God of praise not to keep silence is Christ's own appeal when deceitful and wicked men rise against him. Its setting, made plain by the verses that follow, is a concerted opposition in which accusers open their mouths against him, speak lying words and words of hatred, fight against him, and return evil for his love. That experience was fulfilled in the priests and rulers who set themselves against Christ, even though he had loved them and labored for their good.
