David Prays in Hiding as Saul's Soldiers Approachby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 54:1

Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.

Psalm 54:1 belongs to Psalms 50 to 54 appointed for June 20 within the week's reading of Psalms 46 to 72. It is David's prayer asking God to save by His name and to vindicate and judge by His strength and power. It sets forth human frailty, weakness, and utter need met by God's great strength, love, and mercy, and as a memory verse it gives keeping power in times of trouble. Salvation is sought from God, now asked in the name of Jesus Christ as the only name by which people are saved. After acknowledging God's law, recognizing personal unrighteousness, and accepting Christ's perfect righteousness by faith, a person can pray its request for judgment with confidence that the verdict will be satisfactory.
