Pay the Lord His Dues

Notice.

THE Lord says, render unto Cæsar the things that are Cæsar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s. Luke 20: 25. All our brethren have doubtless kept a part of this command, by paying Cæsar all his tax, which was no small amount with some; but how have we fulfilled our obligations to the Lord who has given us life, and health, and seasons, and crowned our labor with blessings, and given his Son to die for us that we might have forgiveness of our sins, and is preparing for us a home in his kingdom? Oh! let us bring all our tithes and not rob him by neglecting to do so. Why not be just as prompt to pay the Lord as to pay Cæsar? We hope all our brethren and churches in the Wisconsin Conference, will send all their s. B. dues to the State Treasurer immediately, as there are about five hundred dollars due the General Conference that we pledged to it at our last Conference. This should have been paid long before this, as it was pledged on s. B. dues for the year 1870. We hope all the elders and deacons will call the attention of all to this matter till it is all promptly met, and the Lord has received all his dues.
Send post-office orders or drafts on Chicago, payable to Alexander Paton, Lodi, Columbia Co., Wis.
M. J. BARTHOME,  Wisconsin C. W. OLDS,    Conference I. SANBORN.    Committee.

To the Churches and Scattered Brethren in Ohio.

DEAR BRETHREN: The large Ohio tent is now so badly worn that it is unfit for use, and we are under the necessity of purchasing another before the time for tent labor to commence. The old tent was bought when there were but few Sabbath-keepers in Ohio. Some contributed largely toward it, and we have reaped the benefit of their sacrifice. We hope all will feel it a privilege, as well as a duty, to take stock in the new tent, that the cause may still move forward, and many more be gathered into the truth. Let the clerk of each church start a subscription list, and see that all have an opportunity to contribute. The companies that are not organized can appoint one of their number to receive their pledges for this purpose. The lonely ones will also esteem it a privilege to help in this work. The money should be sent to O. F. Guilford, Castalia, Erie Co., Ohio, as soon as possible. The tent will probably cost from $500.00 to $550.00. Bro. Guilford will see that all sums are credited in the REVIEW. OHIO STATE CONF. COMMITTEE.

Life Is Brief and Precious

“’Tis not for man to trifle; life is brief; Our age is but the falling of a leaf; We have no time to sport away the hours; All must be earnest in a world like ours. Not many lives, but one, have we; How precious, then, should that one be.”

Unmannerliness and Over-Politeness

UNMANNERLINESS is not so impolite as over-politeness.
No person ever got stung by hornets, who kept away from where they were. It is so with habits.
STRONG as our passions are, they may be starved into submission, and conquered, without being killed.
