  63. We have just received a copy of California Senate Bill, No. 306, introduced Jan 20, 1899, by Senator Simpson, of Pasadena. It is long, containing nine sections and ninety-five lines, besides the preamble. It is drastic, its fines in some cases reaching in the maximum to six months' imprisonment or $500 fine, or both. We believe that our readers, not only in California but elsewhere, desire to know what such legislation means. We shall in our next and future issues endeavor to enlighten them.Editor1 paragraphs
