Understanding Bible Truths Through the Light of Calvary
Can any Bible doctrine be truly understood apart from the cross?
Please find the statement in the spirit of prophecy that says something to the effect that all of our teachings and doctrines must be seen and understood from the LIGHT streaming from the Cross of Calvary

Every doctrine and truth found in the Word of God must be studied and understood in the light that shines from the cross of Calvary. This central truth of the atonement is the great foundation around which every other message clusters and derives its true significance.
The Light of the Cross and True Doctrine
To correctly read and interpret nature's teaching or the stories of the Bible, one must do so through the light of Bethlehem and the cross. This light illumines the scriptures, as it did for Nicodemus, allowing the believer to see Jesus as the world’s Redeemer. When we view the cross of Calvary, we see a perpetual memorial that calls our attention to a holier world and acts as a medium of communication with the world of light.
A Central Theme: The sacrifice of Christ as an atonement for sin is the great truth around which all other truths cluster.
Comprehensive Study: Every truth from Genesis to Revelation must be studied in connection with this wondrous central theme.
The Law and the Gospel: The cross does not abolish the law of God but rather proclaims its immutable and eternal character in thunder tones.
The Foundation of Education: The cross should be kept before all schools as the foundation of true education and the highest science we can learn.
The Power of the Cross in Teaching
Ministers and teachers are instructed to make the uplifted Son of God the foundation of every discourse. When the matchless love of Christ is dwelt upon, his grace impresses the heart in a way that dry doctrinal arguments cannot. Lifting up the Man of Calvary higher and higher provides an affirmative message with power to move the world.
Evaluating Our Walk by Calvary's Light
The worth of a human soul and the depth of our own guilt can only be correctly estimated in the light reflected from the cross. Only by beholding this infinite sacrifice can we be melted and broken, leading us to a true surrender of heart and soul to God. We are encouraged to educate our souls to abide in this light, maintaining a calm repose in our Heavenly King.
