What Happens During the Biblical Millennium?
Where will you be when Satan is bound to a desolate earth?
What happens during the millennium?
AdventAI
During the millennium, the earth remains a desolate wilderness while the righteous reign with Christ in heaven and Satan is confined to the ruin he helped create. This period begins with the second advent and the first resurrection of the "blessed and holy" dead.
The Condition of the Earth and the Binding of Satan 🌍
The earth is left in a state of utter ruin and desolation, serving as a "bottomless pit" or prison for Satan Revelation 20:1-3.
Satan is bound by a chain of circumstances, confined to this uninhabited earth where he can no longer deceive the nations for a thousand years Revelation 20:2-3.
This state of the earth mirrors the scapegoat being sent to a "land not inhabited," as the sins of the redeemed are placed upon the head of Satan, the originator of sin Leviticus 16:22.
The wicked who were alive at Christ's coming are destroyed by the brightness of His presence and remain dead until the thousand years are finished 2 Thessalonians 2:8.
The Work of the Saints in Heaven ☁️
The righteous, having been raised in the first resurrection or changed in a moment at the last trump, are caught up to meet the Lord in the air 1 Corinthians 15:51-521 Thessalonians 4:16-17.
During the millennium, the saints live and reign with Christ, occupying thrones of judgment Revelation 20:4.
Judgment is committed to the saints, where they participate in the work of judging the dead—including the wicked and the fallen angels—according to their works recorded in the books of heaven Revelation 20:12.
They serve as priests of God and of Christ, enjoying the bodily presence of their Redeemer in the mansions prepared for them John 14:1-3Revelation 20:6.
The Close of the Millennium 🏁
At the end of the thousand years, the New Jerusalem descends from heaven to the earth Revelation 21:2.
The rest of the dead—the wicked—are raised in the second resurrection, which looses Satan for a "little season" as he once again has a multitude to deceive Revelation 20:5, 7-8.
Satan gathers these vast forces to compass the camp of the saints and the beloved city in a final act of rebellion Revelation 20:9.
Finally, fire comes down from God out of heaven and devours the wicked, the devil, and his angels; this is the second death, which cleanses the earth and prepares it to be made new Revelation 20:14-15.
