Understanding the Biblical Nature of the Godhead
Is the Holy Spirit a person or the omnipresence of the Father and Son?
Referencing only the Bible and the writings of Ellen G. White and the early SDA pioneers prior to 1888 ... is it true solid biblical teaching that God is the Father, of whom are all things, the God and Father of Christ; and the Son of God is the one divine being who was literally begotten of the Father, as the first-born of heaven; and the Holy Spirit is the representative divine omnipresence of God the Father and His only begotten divine Son, their life, light and glory that dwells in the believer?

Yes, this is the foundational truth revealed in the Word of God and confirmed through the Spirit of Prophecy. 🌟 The Scriptures and the testimonies maintain that God is the Father, the source of all things; that Jesus Christ is His only begotten Son; and that the Holy Spirit is the divine agency through which they manifest their presence and power in the heart of the believer.
🏛️ The God and Father of Our Lord
The Father is the supreme source of all life and law. He is the Father of Christ, and through the sacrifice of His Son, He adopts us into His family, loving us as He loves His own Son.
The Source of All: All things originate from God the Father, who is more willing to give His Spirit to those who serve Him than earthly parents are to give gifts to their children.
The Supreme Authority: The Father’s voice was heard at the baptism of Jesus, acknowledging Him as His beloved Son.
A Personal Relationship: We are to pray to the Father, seeking His wisdom and the guidance of His Spirit in everything.
👑 The Only Begotten Son of God
Christ is the Son of God, not by creation or as a metaphor, but as the one bought with a price, the precious blood of a lamb without blemish. He is the express image of the Father and the instrument through whom God gives light to His people.
Literally Begotten: Jesus is the only begotten Son, a reality that gives His mission and sacrifice its infinite value.
The Representative of God: He came to rescue truth from error and to restore the native loveliness of the Father's character.
Subordinated to the Father: As the human agent submits his will to God, so Christ lived in perfect harmony with the Father’s will, serving as the link between humanity and divinity.
🕊️ The Holy Spirit as the Divine Presence
The Holy Spirit is the Comforter and the Spirit of truth, the third person of the Godhead who brings the peace of Christ to the soul. The Spirit is the representative of the Father and the Son, making the Word of God a spiritual reality in the heart.
Divine Omnipresence: The Spirit is the influence that operates upon us every moment, as we are dependent upon God's Spirit for the fashioning of our characters.
The Teacher and Guide: It is the Holy Spirit who opens the Bible to our understanding, revealing wondrous things out of God’s law John 16:13.
Life, Light, and Glory: The Spirit is the "living, burning light" that extends to belt the world, inviting all to take the water of life freely Revelation 22:17.
Indwelling Power: When the heart is filled with the holy graces of His Spirit, the character is transformed into beauty and loveliness.
🤝 The Threefold Covenant
At baptism, we are dedicated in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, pledging our lives to be subordinate to the will of God. This threefold ministry—the gospel ministry, medical missionary work, and the publications—is made effectual by the Holy Spirit working to impress hearts.
The Seal of Approval: Just as Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit as a token of the approbation of Jesus, believers today are to be worked by the Holy Spirit through persevering prayer.
The Last Message: The third angel’s message is proclaimed with the power of the Holy Spirit, inviting the world to keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus Revelation 14:12.
The Holy Spirit will always make the impression on the heart that matches the truth of the Word. We are to pray day by day for the Spirit to reveal the truth that will strengthen our souls for our daily needs.
