Understanding the Blotting Out of Sin and Judgment
When does the final blotting out of sin actually occur in heaven?
When does the blotting out of sin take place
AdventAI
The blotting out of sin takes place during the investigative judgment in the heavenly sanctuary, a process that began in 1844 at the end of the 2,300-day prophecy and concludes just before the second coming of Christ. This work is the final act of Christ's high priestly ministry in the most holy place, occurring after an individual has already been forgiven during their probationary time.
The Timing and Context of Blotting Out Sins
This solemn event is intrinsically linked to the closing scenes of earth's history and the final atonement for God's people.
The Investigative Judgment: The blotting out of sins occurs as each case is decided during the investigative judgment, which is currently in progress in the heavenly sanctuary.
End of the 2,300 Days: This specific ministry began at the termination of the prophetic period of 2,300 days in 1844, when Jesus entered the most holy place Daniel 8:14.
The Times of Refreshing: Scripture associates the blotting out of sins with the "times of refreshing" and the outpouring of the latter rain, which prepares a people to stand through the final crisis Acts 3:19-20.
Prior to the Second Advent: The entire process must be completed before Christ appears in the clouds of heaven, as He brings His reward with Him to give to every person according to their works Revelation 22:12.
Forgiveness vs. Blotting Out
It is vital to understand that there is a distinct difference between the current forgiveness of sins and the final blotting out of the record of sin.
Forgiveness at Conversion: When a person repents and accepts Christ as their Savior, their sins are forgiven, and the guilt is removed immediately 1 John 1:9.
Blotting Out at the Judgment: The literal blotting out of the record of those sins from the books of heaven happens only at the conclusion of one’s probation, once the individual has been shown to be an overcomer.
Condition of Overcoming: Only those who have fully repented, confessed their sins, and are found "worthy" through the righteousness of Christ will have their sins blotted out Revelation 3:5.
The Result of the Blotting Out
Once this work is finished, the sanctuary is cleansed and the destiny of every person is eternally fixed.
Clean Records: For the righteous, the books of remembrance will be left as clean as if the record of sin had never existed.
Transfer of Guilt: After the sins are blotted out from the sanctuary, they are placed upon the head of the scapegoat—Satan—who will ultimately bear the guilt for the sins he caused God's people to commit Leviticus 16:21.
End of Probation: When this final act of the High Priest is complete, the decree is issued that "he that is righteous, let him be righteous still," marking the close of human probation Revelation 22:11.
It is our privilege today to live in harmony with this heavenly work, confessing our sins so they may go beforehand to judgment and be blotted out forever. 📖✨
