Why Coffee is Not Recommended for Evangelistic Campaigns

Could your morning coffee be hindering your spiritual progress in spiritual life?

When conducting an evangelistic campaign, should there be coffee for guests?

Providing coffee for guests is not recommended because it is a harmful stimulant that contains poisons and is detrimental to the physical, mental, and spiritual powers. The use of coffee is a pernicious habit that perverts the God-given mind, making the brain unable to distinguish correctly and allowing the enemy to gain control.

The Nature and Effects of Coffee

  • A Harmful Stimulant: Coffee is a nerve irritant that wears away life-forces and causes restlessness, impatience, and mental feebleness. It is solely valued for its stimulating effect, which is comparable to a stage of alcoholic intoxication.

  • Physical Injury: Using coffee is a violation of the laws of life and health, resulting in trembling nerves, a lack of self-control, and a sallow, lifeless appearance of the skin. It spurs the system to unnatural action and eventually leaves the user in a state of exhaustion and prostration.

  • Spiritual Hindrance: The excitement caused by coffee can loosen the tongue and lead to gossip, unkind criticisms, and scandal, all of which are registered by Jesus as being done against Himself Matthew 25:40. It creates a "warring element" that is directly antagonistic to spiritual progress.

Health Reform in Evangelism

In our evangelistic efforts and missionary work, we are instructed to bear a clear testimony against the use of tea and coffee. When teaching the masses, we should show the need for discarding these unhealthful items and instead teach how to provide a wholesome, nourishing, and appetizing diet. Our goal is to present the truth in a way that represents the sacredness and holiness of God, which includes educating people to discard tea and coffee.

A Better Way to Serve Guests

  • Simple and Wholesome: Instead of providing stimulants, we should offer simple, nutritious food that keeps the blood and body in a strong condition.

  • Practical Education: Public meetings and cooking schools should be used to teach people how to prepare palatable health reform foods that are inexpensive and nourishing.

  • Financial Stewardship: The money expended for coffee is worse than wasted and should instead be placed into the treasury of the Lord to advance His work.

The Bible reminds us that we must cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit to attain true holiness 1 Corinthians 7:1. We are called to mortify our members which are upon the earth, recognizing that the indulgence of unnatural appetite is a form of idolatry Colossians 3:5. By practicing self-denial and overcoming these perverted appetites, we can stand before God as a perfect people Ephesians 4:13. ☕️🚫
