The judgment is a multi-phased divine process that begins in the heavenly sanctuary and concludes with the final vindication of God's character and the destruction of sin. This solemn work is currently in progress, having begun in 1844 at the end of the 2300-day prophetic period Daniel 8:14.

The Investigative Judgment ⚖️

The first phase of the judgment, known as the investigative judgment, takes place in heaven while human probation still continues on earth. During this time, the cases of the professed people of God are brought in review before the Father to determine who is worthy of a part in the first resurrection 1 Peter 4:17.

  • The Scene in Heaven: The Ancient of Days sits upon a throne of fiery flame, attended by millions of angels, as the books of record are opened Daniel 7:9-10.

  • Our Advocate: Jesus Christ, our great High Priest, acts as our Advocate, pleading His own blood on behalf of those whose names are found in the book of life 1 John 3:8.

  • The Standard: Every word, act, and motive is weighed against the perfect standard of God's law Ecclesiastes 12:13-14.

  • Blotting Out of Sins: For the overcomers, their sins are blotted out from the heavenly records, and they are granted the white robe of Christ's righteousness Revelation 3:5.

The Warning Message 🎺

God has not left the world in darkness regarding this event; He has sent a worldwide message to prepare a people to stand true during this time.

  • The First Angel's Message: This message announces that "the hour of his judgment is come" and calls all to worship the Creator Revelation 14:6-7.

  • Preparation of Heart: We are currently living in the antitypical Day of Atonement, a time for deep soul-searching, confession of sin, and putting away every defect of character.

  • The Close of Probation: When the investigative judgment ends, the destiny of every person will be forever fixed, and Christ will pronounce the final decree: "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still... and he that is holy, let him be holy still" Revelation 22:11.

The Final Reckoning 🔥

Following the second coming of Christ and the thousand-year period (the millennium), the final phase of judgment occurs.

  • The Great White Throne: The wicked dead are resurrected to stand before the great white throne to receive their final sentence Revelation 20:11-12.

  • The End of Sin: Those whose names are not found in the book of life are cast into the lake of fire, which is the second death Revelation 20:14-15.

  • A New Creation: After the execution of judgment, sin and the instigator of evil are blotted out forever, and the righteous inherit a new earth where God dwells with His people Revelation 21:3.

Personal Accountability 👤

Every individual is personally accountable to God and will one day meet the Judge face to face Romans 14:10-12. We are cautioned not to climb upon the judgment seat to criticize or condemn our brethren, as Christ alone is the appointed Judge. Instead, we should use the remaining hours of our probation to wash our robes in the blood of the Lamb so that we may stand faultless before the throne Jude 1:24.
