Was Ellen White a True Prophet of God?

Jesus actually taught that there would be both true and false prophets after His ascension, and Ellen White primarily referred to herself as the "Lord's messenger" while exercising the biblical gift of prophecy Matthew 24:24+1GP 58.1.

📖 The Biblical Gift of Prophecy After Jesus

• Warning Against False Prophets: Jesus did strictly warn that false Christs and false prophets would arise to show great signs and wonders to deceive many Matthew 24:5+118LtMs, Ms 62, 1903, par. 14. He did not, however, teach that every prophet after Him would be false Ephesians 4:11.

• The Gift Given to the Church: After His ascension, Jesus explicitly gave the gift of prophecy to the Christian church to help perfect the saints and unify the believers Ephesians 4:9-131TT 17.2. The church is fully expected to possess these spiritual gifts while eagerly waiting for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ 1 Corinthians 1:4-71SG 16.1.

• Prophecy in the Last Days: The outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost confirmed the promise that in the last days, God's servants and handmaids will prophesy and see visions Acts 2:16-18GP 31.1.

• A Mark of the Remnant: The book of Revelation reveals that God's true remnant people at the end of time will keep the commandments of God and hold the "testimony of Jesus Christ" Revelation 12:17LLM 33.5. Scripture clearly defines this testimony of Jesus as the "spirit of prophecy" Revelation 19:101TT 17.2.

• The Lord's Messenger: While undeniably fulfilling the biblical role of a prophet, Ellen White embraced the specific title of the "Lord's messenger"GP 58.1. Her ministry is a continuing and authoritative source of truth that provides the church with necessary comfort, guidance, instruction, and correctionGP 58.1.

• Guided by the Spirit: She humbly recognized that the Lord manifested Himself through her via the Spirit of prophecy, giving her visions and dreams to reprove wrongs, strengthen the faith of believers, and guide the church safelyCCh 93.2+1.

• Directing to the Bible: Her prophetic ministry always points people back to Jesus and firmly exalts the Bible as the ultimate standard by which all teachings and experiences must be testedGP 58.1+1.
