Ellen White on the Sunday Law and Sabbath Test
Is the Sunday law or the Sabbath the final test for God's people?
Does Ellen White ever say that the SUnday law is a test or does she only say that the seventh-day Sabbath is the test
AdventAI
The Sunday law is a direct part of the final test because it enforces a counterfeit sabbath and brings the world to a decision between the law of God and the traditions of men.
The Nature of the Sabbath Test
Since 1844, when the door to the Most Holy Place was opened, the commandments have shone with new light, and the world is being tested specifically on the Sabbath question.
The Sabbath of the fourth commandment is the seal of the living God and the sign of our allegiance to Him Exodus 31:13-17.
Christians who lived before this door was opened in 1844 and did not keep the true Sabbath are not held to the same test we face today.
The Sunday Law as the Executory Test
While the Sabbath is the central issue, the enforcement of a counterfeit sabbath by legislative decree is what draws the final line between the true and the false.
The enforcement of Sundaykeeping in the United States will be an enforcement of the worship of the beast and his image.
No one receives the mark of the beast until the decree actually goes forth enforcing this counterfeit day.
When Sunday observance is strictly enforced by secular power, the law of God is made void in a special sense, and this constitutes a supreme test for God's people.
The Final Conflict and Decision
The Sunday law movement is the "impending conflict" that will prove the character of every soul and reveal whether they follow the Dragon or Prince Immanuel.
This test will be so severe that those who refuse to accept popular customs will be viewed as the cause of national calamities.
Ultimately, the test of character is the law of Jehovah, and the Sunday law is the battlefield where the last great conflict between truth and error will be fought.
We are currently in a period of preparation, and we must not sit in quietude while liberty of conscience is being threatened.
A Call to Faithful Action
Our duty during this spiritual crisis is to uplift the law of God and make it stand forth in all its sacredness.
We must study the Word diligently and have an intelligent understanding of the reasons for our faith so we are not beguiled by the sophistries of the enemy 2 Peter 1:19.
Even when Sunday laws are passed, we are to use the day for missionary effort and carrying the truth from house to house.
The Lord will reveal His mighty power to save His people when they reach their greatest extremity.
