Happy Wednesday, fellow student! It is such a blessing to dive into today’s lesson, "Follow the Lamb," as we prepare our hearts for eternity 📖.

Wednesday: Follow the Lamb

The greatest joy of heaven will not be the golden streets or the gates of pearl, but the opportunity to see and worship Jesus in person for His sacrificial work on the cross. John the Baptist identified Jesus as "the Lamb of God," and his disciples immediately recognized the call to follow Him John 1:36-37. To follow the Lamb in the courts above, we must first choose to follow Him here on earth by imitating His example of self-denial and love.

Following Him Now

Following the Lamb is a core characteristic of the redeemed, described as those who "follow the Lamb wherever he goes" Revelation 14:4. This requires us to walk in His footprints all along the path of obedience that He has trodden before us as our example. We are invited to place our will on the side of the Master’s will, following Him not fitfully or only when it is convenient, but in loving and willing obedience. It is the Father who draws us to this path through His sovereign mercy and grace John 6:44.

Led to Living Fountains

In the new earth, the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will lead His people to "living fountains of waters" Revelation 7:17. We are promised that God will wipe away every tear, and the former things—death, sorrow, crying, and pain—will be forever passed away Revelation 21:4. When we stand there, our greatest earthly trials will look so small compared to the exceeding and eternal weight of glory that surrounds us.

Worthy is the Lamb

Throughout eternity, the voices of the ransomed will unite with ten thousand times ten thousand angels in a mighty chorus of praise. We will proclaim that the Lamb is worthy to receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing Revelation 5:12. This perpetual devotion is signified by having His name—His character of love and purity—written in our foreheads Revelation 22:4. By daily meditating on His character and growing in His way, we are prepared for the holy associations of heaven.

May your prayer today be to follow the Lamb with a surrendered heart, trusting that He who began this good work in you will perform it until the day of His return Philippians 1:6. 🙏😇✨
