The Promise of God’s Indwelling Presence in Us
What does it truly mean to have Christ dwelling within you?
Where does it say God will be with us and in us.
AdventAI
God’s presence is promised to us both as an external companion and as an indwelling power through the Holy Spirit. Throughout history and in future promises, He assures His children that He will dwell within them, walk in them, and never leave them.
The Promise of Indwelling
The Temple of God: Your body is considered the temple of the living God, and He has specifically promised, "I will dwell in them, and walk in them" 2 Corinthians 6:16.
A Personal Abide: Jesus promised that if you love Him and keep His words, both He and the Father will come to you and make their abode with you John 14:23.
The Mystery Revealed: The great mystery of the gospel is "Christ in you, the hope of glory," which means having the revelation of Jesus Christ within the soul Colossians 1:27.
A Cleansed Fit Abode: It is the duty of every individual to present their body as a cleansed temple, making it a fit place for God’s indwelling presence.
Constant Presence and Support
Always with You: Christ’s last promise before ascending was, "Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world" Matthew 28:20.
Divine Unity: Through the Holy Spirit, the union with Christ is even closer than when He walked the earth, as He is with you at home, abroad, and continually abides with you.
Support in Trials: Even during the Time of Trouble after the close of probation, Jesus honors His faithful ones by bidding His angels watch over them.
Transformation of Character: When Christ is formed within, His light, love, and power shine out through the human agent, reflecting His image to all around.
Conditions for His Presence
Separation from the World: God promises to receive you as His sons and daughters on the condition that you come out from the world and be separate 2 Corinthians 6:17-18.
The Choice to Open the Door: You must open the door of your heart and believe He is there for His presence to benefit your life and practice Revelation 3:20.
Total Submission: For Christ to be all and in all, there must be a complete death of self so that the fullness of the indwelling Savior can be experienced.
