Where Is God's Throne in the Heavenly Sanctuary?
Is God's throne stationary, or does it move within the heavenly sanctuary?
Where is God’s throne in the holy place?

God’s throne is a movable, living throne that was located in the first apartment, or holy place, of the heavenly sanctuary from the time of Christ’s ascension until the beginning of the investigative judgment in 1844. During this period of the daily ministration, the throne was positioned near the seven lamps of fire and the golden altar of incense Revelation 4:5.
The Movable Throne of God ☁️
The Scriptures represent the throne of God as a living, movable structure rather than being confined to a single fixed positionEze 1:1Eze 10:1. When the heavenly sanctuary service began following Christ's ascension, the throne was located in the first apartment, also known as the holy place.
Evidence of the First Apartment: John’s vision in the book of Revelation identifies the throne in a room containing seven lamps of fire burning before it, which corresponds to the golden candlestick in the holy place of the earthly pattern Revelation 4:2-5.
The Position of Christ: In this apartment, our High Priest commenced His ministration, sitting at the right hand of the Father’s throne to dispense the blessings of the covenant Hebrews 8:1.
Isaiah’s Vision: The prophet Isaiah also beheld the Lord sitting upon this high and lifted up throne in the heavenly temple, surrounded by seraphim Isaiah 6:1-2.
The Change of Position in 1844 ⚖️
A significant change in the location of the throne occurred at the end of the prophetic period of 2300 days in the autumn of 1844 Daniel 8:14. At this time, the "Ancient of Days" moved from the holy place into the most holy place to begin the work of the investigative judgment Daniel 7:9.
Entering the Most Holy: Christ was then brought near before the Father in the second apartment, where the ark of the testament and the mercy seat are located Daniel 7:13.
The Law as the Foundation: In this new position within the most holy place, the throne of God is established over the mercy seat, with the ten commandments inside the ark serving as its very foundation.
A Call to Faith: Today, although we cannot see our Mediator with the natural eye, we are invited to direct our prayers by faith to the throne of grace where Christ pleads His blood in the holiest of all Hebrews 4:16.
The Presence of God in the Sanctuary 🕊️
Whether in the holy or the most holy place, the glory of God's presence is what makes the sanctuary sacred. In the typical service, the divine glory manifested above the mercy seat was often visible even from the first apartment because the inner veil did not extend to the top of the building. This illustrates that God is accessible to His people through the intercession of Jesus Christ, connecting earth with heaven.
