Unveiling Jesus Christ: Divinity, Humanity, and His Eternal Role
What are the key roles Jesus fulfills for humanity's redemption?
Who is Jesus
AdventAI
It is a pleasure to provide a comprehensive understanding of the identity and character of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Infinite God. Jesus is the central figure of the Christian faith, demonstrating both perfect divinity and perfect humanity.
🌟 Christ's Divine Nature and Identity
Jesus Christ is revealed in the Scriptures as fully divine and pre-existent, upholding the universe by His power:
The Eternal Word: He is the Word who was in the beginning with God, and the Word was God John 1:1. He is before all things, and by Him, all things consist (hold together) Colossians 1:17.
The Creator: God created all things by Jesus Christ Ephesians 3:9. As the Creator, without Him was not anything made that was made John 1:3 (implied in John 1:1, 4.
Image of God: Jesus is the express image of His Father’s person and character Hebrews 1:3. The Father granted the Son to have life in Himself, just as the Father has life in Himself John 5:26.
The Archangel Michael: He is identified as Michael, the archangel, whose name means “who is like God”. The voice of the archangel that raises the dead at the second advent is the voice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God John 5:28-291 Thessalonians 4:16 (implied in.
Immortality and Deity: The deity of Jesus possesses immortality, meaning it was never possible for His deity to suffer death. He declared that He had the power to lay down His life and the power to take it again John 10:17-18.
The rejection of the testimony of the inspired Scriptures concerning the deity of Christ is a dangerous error that undermines faith in the Bible.
🌍 The God-Man and His Humanity
Jesus embodied a wondrous combination of the divine and the human nature.
Incarnation: The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us John 1:14. He took on the seed of Abraham and partook of flesh and blood Hebrews 2:14, 16.
Sinless Humanity: He came to earth as a man, to reveal that human beings could keep the law of God. While He was tempted in all points just as man is tempted, He was without sin Hebrews 4:15. He lived a perfect human life.
Humiliation: He made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a servant Philippians 2:7. He humbled Himself to man’s nature. The incarnation of Christ has ever been, and will ever remain, a mystery that demands humility in its study.
✝️ Roles and Mission
Christ fulfilled critical roles to secure redemption and reconciliation for humanity:
High Priest and Mediator: Jesus is the one mediator between God and humanity. He is the great High Priest, making reconciliation for the sins of the people Hebrews 2:17. He acts as a merciful and faithful High Priest who is able to provide succor to those who are tempted Hebrews 2:18.
Redeemer and Sacrifice: Eternal life was secured for us at the cost of God's only begotten Son. Through His death, Christ destroyed him that had the power of death, that is, the devil Hebrews 2:14.
Spokesman for God: It was prophesied that God would raise up a Prophet like Moses, putting God's words in His mouth Deuteronomy 18:18. Christ was a perfect mouthpiece for God, speaking only what the Father commanded.
The Object of Faith: Faith can be exercised only toward Christ, who is its author and finisher, bringing believers into a state of perfect obedience to the law.
💖 The Character of Christ
The character of Christ is the divine ideal for all believers.
Love and Compassion: Jesus is described as being full of compassion, courtesy, and divine politeness. He manifested unselfish generosity toward the poor, the distressed, and the needy.
Meekness and Lowliness: He is meek and lowly of heart. He makes the case of His suffering people His own, identifying every neglect of the needy poor as a neglect of Himself Matthew 25:40, 45.
Example for Believers: His life is an example of self-denial and cross-bearing. His life reveals what fallen human beings may become through union and fellowship with the divine nature.
Perfection and Transformation: The perfection of Christ's character is the Christian's inspiration. As we behold Jesus, we are changed into His image from glory to glory, striving to reproduce His character.
To truly confess Christ, the mind and spirit of Christ must be in the believer, and the fruits of the Spirit manifested in the life are the genuine confession of Him.
