🍇 Jesus, Our Living Vine: A Sabbath School Lesson for Children
A vital connection with Jesus is the only way for us to grow and be happy, just as a branch must stay joined to its parent vine to live. By staying close to Him, we can show His beautiful character to everyone around us.
1. The Story of the Vine and the Branches 🌿
Imagine a beautiful grapevine with strong, green branches. Jesus told His friends, "I am the vine, ye are the branches" John 15:5. He explained that just as a small, leafless twig is engrafted into a vine to receive life, we are joined to Him when we choose to follow Him. fiber by fiber and vein by vein, the branch becomes one with the vine, drinking in strength and life. Without this connection, a branch cannot grow or produce anything; it simply withers away.
2. Growing Fruit for Jesus 🍎
When we stay connected to Jesus, we start to bear "rich clusters" of good fruit. This doesn't mean we grow actual grapes! Instead, our "fruit" is seen in how we act and speak.
What does the fruit look like? It looks like kindness, truth, and unselfish love for others.
How do we grow it? We grow it by "abiding" in Him, which means talking to Him in prayer and listening to His words.
Who is the Gardener? God the Father is the husbandman (the gardener) who watches over us with special care. He sometimes "prunes" or cleans us by helping us learn through difficult times so we can grow even better fruit.
3. Staying Connected Every Day ☀️
Staying joined to Jesus is not a "casual touch" or an "off-and-on" connection. It is a constant, daily friendship.
Daily Study: We can stay close to Jesus by studying our Sabbath school lessons every day with our parents. This helps fix His truth in our memories like a treasure.
Obedience: Jesus said that if we keep His commandments, we will abide in His love John 15:10.
Prayer: We can start every morning with a simple prayer: "Jesus, keep Thy child today... Make me a healthy, fruit-bearing branch of the living Vine".
4. Activity: Sharing the Love 🤝
Because all branches are joined to the same Vine, we are all part of one big family. We should be kind to one another and help those who are lonely or hurting. When we are united in love, we show the world that we truly belong to Jesus.
Memory Verse: "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing" John 15:5.
