John 8:1-10

1 Jesus went to the mount of Olives.

2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down, and taught them.

3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought to him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the middle,

4 They say to him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what say you?

6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the oldest, even to the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the middle.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said to her, Woman, where are those your accusers? has no man condemned you?

The Story of the Silent Writing in the Sand 📖✨

Long ago, while Jesus was teaching in the beautiful temple in Jerusalem, a large group of people gathered around to hear His wonderful words. But suddenly, there was a loud commotion! A group of religious leaders, who were very proud of how well they followed the rules, came marching in. They were leading a woman who looked very sad and ashamed. 🙏

They brought her right to the center of the crowd and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught doing something very wrong. Our laws say she should be punished by being hit with heavy stones until she dies. But what do You say we should do?"

The Wisdom of Jesus

These men weren't really interested in being fair; they were trying to trick Jesus to see if He would disagree with the law. But Jesus didn't say a word at first. Instead, He leaned down and began to write with His finger in the dusty ground.

While they kept asking Him questions and demanding an answer, Jesus stood up and looked at them with eyes full of truth. He said:

"He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." - John 8:7

What Happened Next

After Jesus said this, He leaned back down and kept writing in the dirt. One by one, starting from the oldest men down to the youngest, the leaders began to walk away. As they looked at what Jesus was doing and thought about His words, they realized that they had many secret sins in their own hearts. They realized they were not "without sin" and had no right to throw stones at someone else.

Soon, everyone was gone except for Jesus and the woman.

A Lesson of Mercy and Love ❤️

Jesus stood up and asked her where her accusers had gone. He asked if anyone was left to punish her.

"She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." - John 8:11

Jesus showed the woman—and all of us—that God is full of mercy. He wants us to look at our own mistakes before we point out the mistakes of others. Instead of being harsh or mean, He wants us to have a clean heart and a new start. 🌟

How We Can Be Like Jesus Today

  • Look at your own heart: Before you get upset with a friend or sibling for doing something wrong, remember that we all make mistakes and need God's help to be good.

  • Be kind and forgiving: Jesus didn't stay angry at the woman. He told her she was forgiven and encouraged her to live a better life. We should offer that same kindness to others! 🙏

  • Trust in God's Word: The Bible tells us that if we are sorry for our sins, God is ready to help us change. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9
