The Miracle of a New Heart

The most beautiful new beginning found in God's Word isn't just about a change in where we live or what we do, but a total transformation of who we are inside. This is what it means to have a new start with God!

The Story of Nicodemus and the New Birth

One night, a very important and learned man named Nicodemus came to visit Jesus. He knew Jesus was a teacher sent by God because of the amazing miracles He performed. But Jesus told him something that seemed very confusing at first. He said that to truly see and enter God’s kingdom, a person must be born all over again.

Nicodemus was puzzled! He wondered how a grown person could become a tiny baby again. But Jesus wasn't talking about our bodies; He was talking about our spirits. He explained that just as the wind blows and we can feel it even though we can't see it, God's Spirit works in our hearts to change us from the inside out.

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." - John 3:3

What Does a New Beginning Look Like?

When we ask Jesus to come into our lives, He does a wonderful work of creation. It is like the world in the springtime—just as the brown, sleeping earth suddenly wakes up with green grass and bright flowers when the sun shines warm, our hearts wake up to God's love.

The Bible tells us that when we belong to Jesus, the old, selfish ways of thinking and acting start to fade away. God gives us a brand-new mind and a brand-new heart that wants to love Him and be kind to others.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Learning Together from God's Word

Parents and teachers have a special job to help children understand these big truths through simple stories. God wants us to talk about His love all the time—when we are sitting at the dinner table, when we are out for a walk, when we go to bed, and when we wake up in the morning. By sharing these stories, we help children form good habits of thinking and a deep love for the Savior.

"And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." - Deuteronomy 6:7

A Prayer for a New Start

If you want a new beginning today, you can simply ask God to do this creative work in you. He is the only One who can take away the "winter" of our mistakes and bring the "springtime" of His forgiveness.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." - Psalm 51:10

How to Apply This Today:

  • Talk about it: Share a time with your child when you made a mistake and God helped you start over.

  • Look at nature: Go outside and look at a new bud on a tree or a flower blooming. Explain that God is even more powerful at making our hearts new!

  • Trust Him: Remind your little ones that Jesus loves them so much that He died to give them this beautiful new life. 🙏📖✨
