Heirs of Promises, Prisoners of Hope: A Visitors Day Program
What does being a "stranger and pilgrim" mean in your daily life?
Do me a Sabbath School Program for Visitors Day
AdventAI
What a wonderful idea to make visitors feel especially welcome! Here is a Sabbath School program outline designed for a Visitors Day, focusing on the beautiful themes of promises and hope from this week's lesson.
Welcome to Our Special Visitors Day Sabbath School! 🙏
Good morning, everyone, and a very warm welcome to our church family and especially to all our cherished visitors! We are so glad you chose to spend this precious Sabbath morning with us. Today, we're exploring a truly inspiring topic: being "Heirs of Promises, Prisoners of Hope." It's a theme that speaks to the very heart of what it means to be a follower of God—living with the assurance of His divine commitments and the joyful anticipation of what is to come. We pray you feel God's presence with us today!
Opening Hymn 🎶
Let's begin our time together by lifting our voices in song, reflecting on the goodness of God and His unfailing promises!
Opening Prayer 🌟
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for this beautiful Sabbath day and for the privilege of gathering in Your presence. We especially pray for our visitors today, that Your Holy Spirit may touch their hearts and reveal the depth of Your love and the certainty of Your promises. Grant us open minds and receptive hearts as we study Your Word, that we may be filled with Your hope and grace. Amen.
Special Feature: "Our Journey to a Promised Home" 🏡
Here in Sabbath School, we study the Bible together to grow in our understanding of God's plan for us. This week, we've been reflecting on the ancient Israelites' journey to the Promised Land, a tangible inheritance given to them by God Deuteronomy 1:8. But even more wonderfully, this story is a powerful symbol for us today! Just as the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob looked beyond their earthly dwelling to a greater, everlasting inheritance, we as Christians are also "strangers and pilgrims" on this earth, looking forward to a "better country, that is, an heavenly" Hebrews 11:14-16. Our Sabbath School is a place where we discover together the "blessed hope" Titus 2:13 of this eternal home, a New Heaven and New Earth where sin and pain will be no more Revelation 21:1-3.
Memory Verse Reading 📖
To help us remember this week's theme, let's read our memory verse together:
** Zechariah 9:12:** "Turn you to the strong hold, you prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double to you;"
Lesson Study Highlights: "Inheriting God's Promises"
Our lesson this week has been a beautiful exploration of God's faithfulness and the incredible future He has planned for us. Here are a few key thoughts from our study:
The Original Promise & Loss: God originally provided a perfect home in the Garden of Eden for Adam and Eve Genesis 2:15. However, their disobedience led to their expulsion from this paradise and a curse upon the ground, reminding us of the serious consequences of sin Genesis 3:17-24. Yet, even then, God's promise of restoration began, pointing to a future home beyond this fallen world.
A Heavenly Inheritance: The land of Canaan was a gift from God to Israel, but Abraham and his descendants understood it was a foretaste of an even grander "everlasting possession" – the whole earth redeemed and transformed into God's eternal kingdom Romans 4:13Galatians 3:29. This glorious inheritance is our ultimate hope, secured by Jesus' death and resurrection, ensuring we will dwell with Him in the New Jerusalem forever John 14:1-3Revelation 21:1-3.
God's Generosity and Equality: The ancient Israelite laws, such as the Sabbatical year and the Year of Jubilee, were designed to prevent permanent poverty and promote social equality, ensuring that all had an opportunity for a fresh start Leviticus 25:1-13. These principles remind us that in God’s eyes, all people are equal, regardless of their earthly status. Embracing these spiritual disciplines also helps us say "no" to the pressures of consumerism and focus on God's lasting values.
Faith and Obedience: While salvation is a gift of grace through faith Ephesians 2:8-9, possessing this promised inheritance also calls for our active response, including diligent obedience to God's commandments Philippians 2:12Hebrews 12:28. It is through this active, trusting faith that we grow in grace and are prepared to enter His kingdom.
Thought-Provoking Discussion Questions for Our Visitors 💬
We'd love for you to share your thoughts, if you feel comfortable!
The Bible describes God's people as "strangers and pilgrims" on earth, looking for a heavenly home Hebrews 11:131 Peter 2:11. What does this perspective mean to you in your daily life?
In a world often filled with broken promises and disappointments, how can reflecting on God's unchanging faithfulness bring you comfort and certainty?
The "abundant life" Christ offers John 10:10 is much more than material wealth. What do you think this "abundant life" looks like in a spiritual sense?
Special Music 🎵
Let's enjoy a special musical offering that further elevates our thoughts to God and His wonderful promises!
Closing Remarks & Invitation 👋
Thank you again for joining us today! We hope you have felt God's love and the warmth of our fellowship. The hope of a new earth, free from sorrow and pain, where we can dwell with Jesus forever, is a "living hope" that truly transforms our lives 1 Peter 1:3-4. If you'd like to learn more about this blessed hope or any other aspect of God's Word, please don't hesitate to speak with any of our members or Sabbath School leaders. We invite you to come back and study with us any time!
Benediction 🙏
May the Lord bless you and keep you; may His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may He lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace, as you continue your journey, heirs of His promises and prisoners of His glorious hope. Amen.
