The Grand Purpose: Restoring God's Image and Eternal Life
What is the ultimate purpose of human life?
what is the purpose of life
AdventAI
The ultimate purpose of life is to restore the image of God in the soul, living to glorify Him and continually grow in capability and helpfulness. This grand aim is deeply connected to securing eternal life and reflecting Christ's character in every aspect of our existence.
Here's a closer look at the multifaceted purpose of life:
Glorifying God and Fulfilling His Will
The true purpose of every person's existence is to bear witness to the truth, which is God's word and Christ Himself John 18:37. To secure life's grand aim without error, one must make God first, last, and best in every plan, work, and thought. Our loyalty to God, expressed by obeying His commandments in spirit and letter, reveals our covenant relationship with Him to the world, to angels, and to people 1 John 5:3. When our hearts are filled with useful ideas and we live to glorify God, we become more noble and happy.
Restoring God's Image and Character
In the beginning, God created humanity in His own likeness, with noble qualities and harmonious powers. However, sin marred this image, and the true object of education and life itself is to restore this divine image in the soul, bringing us back to the perfection in which we were first created. This divine excellence of character is a standard to which we are to attain, finding repose in Christ and balance for our minds. Character cannot be bought; it is formed by daily efforts to resist temptation and is the work of a lifetime, requiring individual effort, wise improvement of opportunities, and cultivation of God-given talents.
Serving Others and Doing Good
Life's true aim is not to secure the greatest possible gain for ourselves, but to honor our Maker by doing our part in the world's work and lending a helpful hand to those who are weaker or more ignorant. Living for a purpose involves seeking to benefit and bless fellow humans and to honor and glorify our Redeemer, which makes us truly happy. This includes diligently following every good work, ministering to others, and making our lives a blessing to those around us.
Cultivating Spiritual and Practical Abilities
Having an aim and purpose in life stimulates the mind, bringing all its powers into spontaneous activity and guarding against indolence. Parents should assist their children in learning to help themselves, as children who rely on their own exertions generally prize their abilities, improve their privileges, and cultivate their faculties to accomplish a purpose in life. This often develops characters of industry, frugality, and moral worth, which are foundational to success in the Christian life. Education helps us lighten our work by teaching better methods and higher aims, preparing us for practical life.
Seeking Eternal Life and Salvation
The Bible reveals God's will and teaches us the object of our creation, how to improve wisely the present life, and how to secure the future life. Christ came to this world specifically to give life to those who would believe in Him, bringing "life and immortality to light through the gospel" 1 John 5:11-12. Our present temporary life, marred by sin, leads to death, but through the plan of salvation, eternal life is decreed for the righteous, a future life as sure as God's own throne.
To be truly happy and fulfilled, we are called to a life of complete consecration, making the glory of God and the salvation of souls our grand aim and purpose. Let us embrace this high calling, for a life lived without Christ is an utter failure, but with Him, we live with a profound and lasting purpose.

why did God create mankind
AdventAI
God created humankind out of His boundless love and profound desire to share His blessings, intending for them to reflect His image, have dominion over the earth, and glorify Him through their lives and worship 💖 Genesis 1:26-27.
Here’s a deeper understanding of why God created mankind:
Out of Infinite Love and Desire to Share
God is love, and His very nature compelled Him to bestow Himself upon others. He created mankind for happiness, not for worry, and delights in seeing His children repose in His goodness, mercy, and love. He desired to share His rule and counsel, allowing created beings to participate in His eternal purposes and come to know Him intimately.
To Bear His Image and Have Dominion
Mankind was specifically made in God's own image and likeness, intended to be perfect and upright Genesis 1:26-27. This "image of God" means that He instilled in humanity everything of Himself that could be manifested through the human form. He created them male and female with a purpose: to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, and exercise dominion over all living things and the entire planet Genesis 1:26-28Genesis 9:1.
To Glorify Him and Enter into Relationship
Mankind's creation was meant to be a physical complement to a spouse and a spiritual complement to the indwelling Spirit of God. God’s glory is revealed in the creation of man in His image and in their subsequent redemption. He established the Sabbath as a memorial of His creative work, to help mankind continually contemplate His perfections, power, and goodness, thus guarding against idolatry and keeping alive true religion Genesis 2:2-3. Humanity is God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God prepared from the beginning, so that we might walk in them and experience His continual rest Ephesians 2:10. Our bodies are intended to be temples of the living God, preserved pure to reflect His image to the heavenly universe and a fallen world.
As Free Beings with Liberty
God created man as a free being, endowing humanity with physical, mental, and moral liberty as a birthright. His eternal purpose is to assert and restore this liberty where it has been lost.
In essence, God created mankind as a profound expression of His love, desiring a relationship where intelligent beings could reflect His character, enjoy His creation, and share in His divine purpose for the universe Genesis 1:26-27.
