Theocracy vs Cryptocracy: Choosing Divine Liberty Over Worldly Deception

Is our hospitality toward the world making us inhospitable to Christ?

AdventAI

IS THE GREAT CONTROVERSY: THEOCRACY VS. CRYPTOCRACY?

AdventAI

The great controversy is fundamentally a conflict between a true theocracy, which is the direct government of God based on love and liberty, and a false theocracy, where man-made systems use religious authority to enforce human laws and personal agendas.

The Nature of True Theocracy 🕊️

A true theocracy is the kingdom of God itself, characterized by His immediate direction and the law of love. In this system:

  • God is the only King and Lawgiver, and He requires service that springs from an intelligent appreciation of His character rather than force.

  • It provides the only foundation for perfect order and equity through obedience to His just commands.

  • Citizens possess a royal dignity and power, serving as a "kingdom of priests" and a "holy nation" to mediate the knowledge of God to others 1 Peter 2:9.

  • The Sabbath serves as the specific sign or seal of this divine authority, distinguishing the Creator from all false gods.

The Emergence of False Theocracy ⚠️

A false theocracy arises when men place themselves in the position of God, leading to spiritual and temporal despotism. Key aspects include:

  • Human Usurpation: When a man rules in the place of God, he effectively becomes a "pope," claiming an authority and infallibility that belongs only to the Divine.

  • Union of Church and State: This system inevitably seeks the support of secular power to enforce religious dogmas, such as Sunday legislation, which is a direct repetition of the apostasy seen in the fourth century.

  • Compulsion and Cruelty: While God never forces the will, a false theocracy uses fear, force, and human laws to secure homage to itself.

  • The Image of the Beast: In modern times, this is seen through the union of an apostate church with the state, seeking to mandate religious observances in defiance of God’s law.

The Role of the "Great Controversy" Book 📖

The book The Great Controversy was written under the illumination of the Holy Spirit to reveal these very scenes of conflict between Christ and Satan.

  • It exposes the history of this struggle, from the fall of Satan to the final deliverance of the saints.

  • It warns that those who do not have their faith firmly established on the Word of God will be overcome by the powerful delusions and miracle-working power of the enemy.

  • The circulation of this book is vital because it contains the light and truth needed to prepare a people for the coming day of the Lord.

The Individual's Choice ⚖️

Ultimately, the controversy is an individual test of loyalty to God’s government versus human institutions.

  • God leaves every person free to choose their leader, but the fruits of their choice will reveal their true allegiance Joshua 24:15.

  • Those who seek to do God's will with a single purpose will receive the light necessary to guide them into all truth.

  • True followers of Christ do not wait for truth to become popular; they follow the Lamb wherever He goes, even through reproach and trial Revelation 14:4.

While the term "cryptocracy" is not specifically used, the descriptions of Satan working through "crooked principles" in darkness and subverting minds through secret plans within religious institutions align with the concept of a hidden, deceptive power attempting to control the conscience. Therefore, the conflict is between the open, transparent government of God and the deceptive, forced systems of man.

WHY ARE BEING SO INHOSPITABLE TO OUR LORD (STANDING OUTSIDE THE CHURCH) WHILE BEING SO HOSPITAL TO THE WORLD?

AdventAI

We are being inhospitable to our Lord because the love of the world has so occupied our thoughts that our eyes are turned downward to the earth rather than upward to Him. Many who profess to look for Christ's return have ceased their watching and waiting, finding themselves unprepared to open the door to Him immediately when He knocks. This condition arises because the heart is divided; the carnal mind craves conformity and similarity to the world in such a variety of ways that the mark of distinction from the world is scarcely discernible. While we are hurrying about, engaging with zeal in different enterprises, God is forgotten, and the heavenly treasure is not valued.

The Grip of Worldliness 🌍

The attraction to earthly things often eclipses the heavenly, putting the Lord out of our sight and understanding.

  • Satan's Strategy: Intense worldliness is one of Satan's most successful temptations, designed to fill the mind so completely with worldly attractions that there is no room for heavenly things.

  • The Snare of Riches: The love of the world and the deceitfulness of riches eclipse our faith, leading us to try too hard to take care of ourselves rather than trusting in God.

  • A Failure of Sacrifice: In the current tide of worldliness and pleasure-seeking, the spirit of self-denial and self-sacrifice for Christ's sake is almost wholly lost.

  • Indifference to His Coming: Some have become indifferent and careless regarding the appearing of the Master, concluding there is time enough yet to secure earthly treasures.

Inhospitable to the Lord 🚪

When we neglect the preparation of purity and holiness, we are found sleeping when the Master returns.

  • Neglected Duties: Many are in a state of mourning because the Holy Spirit has not visited them as in former years due to spiritual indifference and worldliness.

  • The Sin of Robbing God: Souls are in danger of eternal ruin because they worship their farms and money, withholding from God what is His while liberally bestowing gifts on themselves and their friends.

  • Barriers to Christ: When we allow pride, covetousness, or self-esteem to hide the perfect Pattern from our view, we are cut off from His grace.

  • Refusing His Light: Those who reject the right path because it is too far separated from the world cannot pass the strait gate or walk the narrow way.

The Danger of Worldly Hospitality ⚠️

We often prioritize external appearances and the customs of the world over the simple, genuine hospitality Christ requires.

  • Display and Vanity: Much time is wasted toiling for display to excite the admiration or envy of visitors, rather than cultivating the meekness and simplicity of Christ.

  • Selfish Exclusiveness: God is displeased with the selfish interest often manifested only for "me and my family," which shuts out those who truly need our care.

  • Friendship with the World: Whosoever will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God, for there is no concord between Christ and Belial James 4:4.

  • A Warning to the Church: When worldliness, self-indulgence, and pride crop out in the lives of His followers, the Master must prune these hindering causes to give room for the healing beams of the Sun of Righteousness.

Returning to Our First Love ❤️

To remedy this, we must detach ourselves from cherished idols and seek a union with Christ by living faith.

  • Opening the Door: The True Witness stands at the door and knocks; if any man hear His voice and open the door, He will come in and sup with him Revelation 3:20.

  • True Hospitality: We are encouraged to use hospitality one to another without grudging, recognizing that as we do it unto the least of His disciples, we do it unto Him 1 Peter 4:9.

  • A Call to Separation: We must come out from the world and be separate, touching not the unclean thing, that the Lord may receive us as His sons and daughters 2 Corinthians 6:17-18.

  • Watching and Praying: Great watchfulness and much prayer are needed to keep the soul with all diligence so that the day of the Lord does not overtake us as a thief 1 Thessalonians 5:4-6.

REWORK DUE TO ADDITION WHY ARE BEING SO INHOSPITABLE TO OUR LORD FOR NOT INVITING HIM IN, AND TO THE LEAST OF MY BRETHERN, WHILE BEING SO HOSPITAL TO THE WORLD?

AdventAI

We are often inhospitable to our Lord because our hearts are divided, and the carnal mind craves conformity and similarity to the world in a variety of ways. This inordinate attachment to earthly things eclipses the heavenly, effectively putting the Lord out of our sight and understanding. While Jesus stands at the door and knocks, many are so occupied with worldly enterprises that they are not in a waiting or watching position to open to Him immediately Revelation 3:20.

Neglecting the Lord and His Brethren 🚪

Our failure to invite the Lord in is often mirrored by our neglect of those He calls "the least of His brethren."

  • Selfish Exclusiveness: God is displeased with the selfish interest often manifested for "me and my family," which leads us to shut ourselves up and become unwilling to entertain those in need.
  • Grudging Service: Some feel that looking after the wants of the saints is a wearisome task, but as we grudge hospitality to God's people, we are effectively grudging it to Jesus Himself.
  • Robbing the Needy: Those who are busy adding to their possessions often withhold help from the poor and the laborer, showing a hard heart that dares not trust God.
  • Spiritual Sleep: By neglecting the preparation of purity and holiness, many have become indifferent to the Master’s appearing and are found sleeping when He seeks entrance.

Hospitality to the World 👠

While we remain cold toward heavenly things, we often exert great effort to follow the customs and displays of the world.

  • Toiling for Display: We frequently use our time toiling for external display to excite the admiration or envy of visitors, rather than cultivating the simple peace of a Christian home.
  • Worldly Customs: Our social entertainments are too often governed by the dictates of worldly custom rather than the Spirit of Christ and the teachings of His word.
  • Artificial Lives: We often lead artificial lives, showing superficial politeness and affectation toward strangers while neglecting genuine love and sympathy for those closest to us.
  • Divided Allegiance: Many expend God's money to make an appearance after the world’s customs, making the mark of distinction between the believer and the world scarcely discernible.

The Root of the Problem ⚠️

The reason we find it so easy to be hospitable to the world and inhospitable to Christ is a lack of true detachment from our idols.

  • Satan's Strategy: Satan designs to keep our minds so completely filled with worldly attractions that there will be no room for heavenly things.
  • The Weight of Cares: The enemy arranges affairs to entangle us with earthly treasures and a heavy burden of worldly cares, so that the day of trial may come upon us as a thief.
  • Failure to Detach: Many try to attach themselves to Christ without first detaching from pride, selfishness, vanity, and worldliness.
  • Loss of Sacrifice: In the current tide of pleasure-seeking, the spirit of self-denial and self-sacrifice for Christ's sake is almost entirely lost.

To change this, we must remember that friendship with the world is enmity with God, and we are called to come out from among them and be separate James 4:4. We are encouraged to use hospitality toward one another without grudging, for in doing so, we welcome the Presence of our Lord 1 Peter 4:9.☀️
