Understanding the Divine and Human Nature of Jesus
What is the unique nature of Jesus?
What is the nature of jesus
AdventAI
The nature of Jesus is a wondrous and profound combination of both divine and human attributes, making Him the unique bridge between God and humanity. He is truly God and truly man, possessing both the fullness and perfection of the Godhead and the fullness and perfection of sinless humanity.
The Divine Nature of Jesus 👑
Jesus is the eternal Son of God, who existed with the Father from the very beginning. He is the express image of God's person and the brightness of His glory. In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, signifying His complete deity. The concept of His divine Sonship is a direct and clear expression of His divine nature. His birth was a miracle of God, and He is called the Son of God Luke 1:31-35.
The Human Nature of Jesus 🙏
In His marvelous condescension, Jesus took upon Himself human nature. This means He was a real man, possessing all the human organism, with bodily wants and weariness, just like us. He was made in the likeness of men and humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death Philippians 2:5-8. He partook of flesh and blood, becoming like us in all things, yet without sin Hebrews 2:14-17. This allowed Him to truly know and pity sinful mortals, understanding the temptations that beset us so He could deliver those who are tempted and intercede on their behalf.
The Purpose of This Dual Nature 💖
The combination of divinity and humanity in Jesus served a magnificent purpose. He came to our world not to reveal what a God could do, but what a man could do through faith in God's power. By taking human nature, He demonstrated that it is possible for human beings to keep the law of God, even amidst temptations. He endured all that was possible for man to endure in conflict with Satan, showing us how to overcome by being partakers of the divine nature.
Through His incarnation, Jesus linked the created with the Uncreated, the finite with the Infinite. He absorbed the love of the Father in His human nature, becoming the fountain of grace and compassion, imparting His grace to us, and enabling us to comprehend God's infinite love. He is the great ordinance by which man and God are united and commune together.
Living a Christlike Life ✨
As followers of Jesus, we are called to reveal His character in our lives. This means reflecting His tenderness, compassion, unselfish generosity and loving one another as He has loved us John 13:35. By being partakers of the divine nature, we can overcome the corruption in our own natures and be changed into His likeness. Our characters are to be fashioned not after man's pattern, but after the Lord's ideal, continually growing into Christ's spirit and mind.
In His strength, we are to live a life of purity and nobility, just as He did John 15:10John 8:29. We are to abide in Him, constantly receiving His Spirit and surrendering to His service, drawing from Him the strength and perfection of His character. This continuous transformation, where we take on the impression of the Spirit of God and retain the image of Christ, leads to a character that is eternally secure, having overcome pride, passion, and spiritual slothfulness.
It is through sincere faith and obedience that we can embrace this profound truth and experience the transforming grace of God. He desires all that there is of us to be consecrated to His service, and in return, He supplies His Holy Spirit, enabling us to be more than conquerors 1 John 5:4.
