Understanding Why God Abhors a Proud Look
Why is pride considered a great crime in the eyes of God?
Why does God hate a proud look?

God hates a proud look because pride is an offensive sin that elevates the self, creates discord, and shuts out the presence of Jesus Christ. Pride is especially dangerous because it is often regarded as small by men while God accounts it as a great crime that resists His authority.
The Nature of Pride as a Sin
Offensive to God: Pride and self-importance are regarded by God with abhorrence and loathing because they are the opposite of His own character of humility.
Idolatry and Rebellion: A proud look indicates a heart that is far from God; it is the offspring of the same spirit that prompted rebellion in heaven and led to the fall of man.
Blindness and Deception: Pride perverts the judgment, leading individuals to rely on their own merits rather than the merits of Christ's blood. It makes parents find it easier to teach children lessons of pride than of humility, sowing seeds of spiritual death.
The Effects of a Proud Look
Creates Division: Pride, along with selfishness and covetousness, creates dissension, hatred, and variance among brethren.
Blocks Spiritual Growth: Those who cherish a proud look are dying spiritually; their hearts become like "whited sepulchres," full of corruption and uncleanness within.
Prevents Salvation: God will not take anyone to heaven unless He can see Christ’s humility exemplified in them; a heart full of pride cannot enjoy the perfection of the saints.
The Contrast with Christ’s Character
Jesus as the Pattern: The entire life of Christ was a lesson in humility, from His lowly birth to His sacrifice on the cross. He was the Majesty of heaven, yet He clothed Himself with the humility of a child.
Humility is Power: While man seeks to elevate himself, true power is found in lowliness of mind, which allows the Holy Spirit to work effectively in the soul.
The Reward of the Humble: God dwells with those who possess a contrite and humble spirit, promising to revive their hearts and beautify them with salvation Isaiah 57:15Psalms 149:4.
The call for every believer is to look to Calvary and let every proud look be humbled. To be accepted by God, one must cast aside all self-importance and acknowledge their utter helplessness without Him. 🌟
