PROOFS OF AN EXTINCT RACE OF MEN AND ANIMALS.—

On Meagher’s Bar, opposite Nevada, have been discovered fossils that unmistakably prove that this part of the world was, at some time, inhabited by a race of human beings who stood, in maturity, from ten to twelve feet high, and by a species of quadrupeds at least twice as large as the Asiatic elephant. They were imbedded about eight feet, in what might be termed a close alluvial deposit, and what the configuration of the country indicates was once the eddy of a river.—Montana Post.
