Who Will Go?

“Lord, here am I,” for God had said, “Whom shall I send, and who for us will go With warnings to a sinful world?” The prophet heard, and with his lips Touched by the holy fire, and cleansed from sin, Answered in meekness to the call: “Send me.”
Could but these lips of mine—these lips of clay— Be touched with hallowed fire and cleansed from sin, Then gladly they would bear thy warning call Of loving tenderness to man. Cleanse, Lord, my lips from dross of selfishness; Breathe the commission of thy love to me, With pardoning voice, “Jehovah bids thee go,”— And I will whisper of thy love to all. — Selected.
