Mothers' and Teachers' Manual

FOR HOME AND CHURCH SCHOOLS.

By Prof. C. C. Lewis.
THIS book is just from the press. It is published by recommendation of the General Conference Educational Committee, and is designed to aid in unifying the church-school work by furnishing a basis of organization upon which parents in the homes and teachers in the schools may build.

DESCRIPTION OF PARTS.

PART I sets forth the general principles of Christian education, and states the objects of church schools.
PART II applies these principles to the home training, and shows parents how to educate their children in the home until they are old enough to enter the church school.
PART III provides a course of study for church schools, recommends text-books, and tells how to teach each subject in every grade.
PART IV presents a course of study for intermediate schools, and outlines the principles upon which they should be conducted.
PART V contains hints and helps for teachers, based upon questions which they have asked, and drawn from the long experience of the author.
PART VI solves many of the practical problems in the church-school work with which the people are everywhere dealing.

TESTIMONIALS.

“I am in favor of a Manual as suggested by Professor Lewis, and hope to see all unite in adopting plans by which the school work of the denomination may be developed symmetrically.”—Elder Geo. M. Brown, Educational Secretary, Nebraska Conference.
“Having given the church-school work considerable study, I am fully convinced that there is the greatest need of something being published that will serve to bring uniformity into this branch of the message. As nearly as I can learn, our church-school teachers are crying loudly for just such an outline as is proposed in Prof. C. C. Lewis's ‘Manual for Church Schools.’”—Elder L. A. Hoopes, President Union College.
“I have hastily looked over the entire manuscript, and I am impressed that we have sufficiently passed the experimental stage of this work to justify crystallizing something on this subject, even though it should need revision in the near future. I feel that Professor Lewis and his associates have brought together a large number of helpful suggestions, and that the Lord has led them out in this work.”—David Paulson, M. D., Member Educational Committee.
“The Educational Department of the General Conference has indorsed the work of Professor Lewis, and encouraged the general use of the ‘Manual for Home and Church Schools.’ It meets a present need, and it is dedicated to parents, ministers, and teachers, with the hope that as a result of their united efforts, and the further development of the principles of Christian education, the work will make rapid advancement. It is recommended that the Manual be freely used both in the homes and by church-school teachers.”—Prof. E. A. Sutherland, President Emmanuel Missionary College.
