“AFTER MANY DAYS.”

“Bread cast upon the waters may be found after many days.”
AYE, “after many days,” No matter when or where, The bread thus cast, the seed thus sown, Shall spring up fresh and fair.
Cast it around thy home, Be sure ’tis not in vain, Though thou mayst never see That scattered bread again.
Though “after many days,” The bread shall still be found, And what thy love hath cast, Shall clothe the barren ground.
And when the golden gates Shall open to receive Some whom perchance thou didst In doubt and trembling leave,
Then, “after many days,” How shalt thy heart rebound, When harps of gold shall hail The bread forever found.
