To the Churches of the Vt. Conference.
By D. T. Bourdeau
As I look over the quarterly reports, I see that several of the churches have not reported for the last quarter, and that some of our churches have not paid their pledges for a long time. Now these things ought not so to be. The cause of God should not be thus neglected. Our efforts to advance the truth should increase as we near the end. It is expected that the Vermont tent will be in the field the coming season, and means will be needed to run it, and to meet the wants of the cause in other branches. Whatever may have been the lacks under which the cause in our State has struggled in the past, we have some reasons for encouragement. Vermont has never suffered much under the effects of rebellion. We have aimed to move in harmony with the body of Seventh-day Adventists; and though much of our State has been run over with the truth, yet there are good openings before us. Even on the hardest ground we find some who are anxious to hear the truth spoken. The Spirit of God is at work upon the hearts of the people. Brethren and sisters, let us come up unitedly to the help of the Lord against the mighty; emerge out of indifference, worldly-mindedness, self, and all those things that would hinder us in our journey heavenward. Let us not be discouraged by our failures in the past, but improve upon the light given us, hoping for better days. D. T. BOURDEAU, Conf. Sec’y.
