“Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth.”
The family circle of Bro. Hiram Bingham of Morristown, Vt., is again broken, and another vacancy caused by the removal of the head of the family. After a distressing sickness of one week, Bro. Bingham died of congestion of the lungs, on the 30th of November, 1874, aged seventy years and four months. He publicly professed the Christian religion in 1831. Twelve years later he embraced the hope of the near coming of the Saviour, manifesting a living interest in the promulgation of those truths which have moved the world on this great and glorious subject. About twenty-four years since, the light shone upon his mind on the subject of the sanctuary and the Bible Sabbath, which he readily received, from which time his helping hand has been felt in various ways in advancing the great work of the third angel’s message. We attended his funeral Dec. 2, and spoke from 2 Tim. 4: 7, 8. A Baptist minister present, who had been acquainted with Bro. B. and his companion over forty years, testified before the large audience, that within that time, they had done more to relieve the poor, afflicted, and destitute families than any other two persons of his knowledge. “Many” said he, “of this class will arise in the Judgment and call him blessed.” A. S. HUTCHINS.
DIED, Oct. 1, 1874, in Orleans, Mich., Bro. Wesley Gould. Services by the writer, from Heb. 2: 14. P. STRONG.
